Carthage Real Estate
Carthage, the county seat of Moore County, is home to a little more than 2,000 people. Much of Carthage's early growth was due to the Tyson Jones Buggy Plant, which turned out 3,000 carriages a year, earning the town the title of the "buggy capital of the world." The annual Carthage Buggy Festival celebrates this history.
Though a small community, Carthage is growing quickly--it's actually among the top 20 fastest-growing municipalities in the state, more than doubling in population since 1990. Carthage is home to more than 150 small businesses and the Little River Golf Course.
The wide, tree-lined streets of Carthage feature a number of charming, historic buildings and homes--more than 50 of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Carthage Historical Museum preserves local history, and the House in the Horseshoe, an 18th-century plantation and a North Carolina Historic Site, hosts an annual Revolutionary War battle reenactment.
