Pinehurst Real Estate
Perhaps the most well-known golf resort in the country, the first golf course in Pinehurst was created in 1898, just three years after the first hotel, Holly Inn, opened. Although Pinehurst was established more than a century ago, the Village of Pinehurst was not incorporated as a municipality until 1980, previously operating solely as a resort area under first the ownership of founder James Tufts and his heirs, and later under Diamondhead Corporation. Since its incorporation, the village has grown from a population of less than 2,000 to more than 10,000 residents.
Pinehurst features eight world-class championship golf courses, and has been the site of more championships than any other course in the country, including the 2005 U.S. Open. But the resort community offers much more than golf. You'll also find luxury spa amenities, tennis facilities, fine dining, and a variety of family activities.
The Village of Pinehurst is home to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, a 400-bed hospital with a new Emergency Center and Hospice Center. Moore County's largest employer, FirstHealth has ranked in the top 4 percent nationwide for combined performance in cardiac surgery, cardiology, orthopaedics, stroke, pulmonary and vascular care.
