Although a few more sales will be coming in for August '09, you can see that the trend from 2005 to present. From last year to this year, we are down 29% in Number of Units Sold; 3% in Sales Price; and up 9% for Days on the Market. There have been many articles on the recovery that is happening. If we had been tracking properties in the $300,000 and under market only, we would have seen better results than those posted above. Unfortunately, higher priced homes remain weak with only 14 houses sold this year over $600,000 (as opposed to 33 properties last year). So keep in mind the table above refers to the movement of all properties in all price ranges.
FYI: Have you ever heard of the MIRA Foundation? They are a non-profit organization that provides seeing-eye dogs to blind individuals (with a special emphasis on children) FOR FREE. There is a chapter being formed in our area and they have a upcoming fundraiser -- a certified 5K Fun Run & Dog Walk -- being held in Southern Pines on Saturday, October 17th. What a great way to get some fresh air, exercise (for both you and your furry friends), and provide financial support for a worthy cause. Check it out at: Miles for Mira: A 5K Fun Run and Dog Walk.
Save the date if you can . . . October 17th! You can't miss me . . . I'll be there with the two reasons I own a Suburban and a king-size bed: Savannah and Cheyenne -- our two Shiloh Shepherds!
Have a Safe & Happy Labor Day Weekend!
