Southern Pines Real Estate
With a few more than 11,000 residents, Southern Pines is the largest town in Moore County. A premier golf destination, Southern Pines also boasts a large equestrian community, with facilities for jumping, fox hunting, and steeplechasing. The charming downtown area features eclectic shops and tree-lined streets.
The town's parks and recreation department maintains five public parks with recreational and athletic facilities and a greenway trail system comprised of four greenways that stretch over more than five miles combined. The 165-acre Reservoir Park features a 95-acre lake, and offers nature trails, fishing, boating, and picnic shelters.
Southern Pines was founded by James K. Patrick in the early 19th century. With the railroad running through the center of town, Patrick hoped the town would entice travelers taking the train from the North to Florida.
