Whispering Pines Real Estate
Whispering Pines was founded in 1959 as a golf course and residential development, and was incorporated as a municipality 10 years later, becoming the first community in North Carolina to be designated as a village. Home to about 2,100 residents, Whispering Pines encompasses six lakes and three championship golf courses, offering a number of recreational opportunities.
Whispering Pines' beginnings can actually be traced back to the late 18th century, when a dam and mill were built at Thagards Lake, one of the community's distinctive features. The area developed into the small community of Thagardsville, but it was not until developer A.B. Hardee purchased the lake and 475 acres that Whispering Pines came to be.
